Alex Thomas, DOB 6/18/00
Features and Characteristics:
- Large at birth (9lb 12oz)
- Had to be ventilated initially and remained oxygen dependant for 8 weeks
- Congenital hypothyroidism
- Physically delayed (can't sit up)
- Alert and sociable and starting to say quite a few words
- Severely dairy intolerant (with other more minor food intolerances)
- Eczema
- Glue ear but has had a successful grommet operation and his hearing is fine
- Identical pits in the top of each ear (like little holes)
- Teeth are deteriorating (possibly due to medications)
- Uncoordinated movements due to his variable muscle tone
- Very "heavy handed" so his fine motor skills are virtually non-existent (he has no pincer grasp)
- High fevers, sometimes for no apparent reason
- Prone to chest infections (although has never needed to go back on oxygen)
- Very noisy breather (always sounding a bit congested, even when well)
Testing with negative results:
- Angelman syndrome
- Metabolic disorders
- Fredreich's ataxia
- MRI (essentially normal but with "features of immaturity")
